USA Nationwide Call for a Ban of 85 Pesticides That Have Already Been Banned in Europe and Other Countries
In Europe, China, Brazil, and many other countries, regulatory and elected officials have had the wisdom, based on science, to ban 85 agrochemicals that are not banned in the USA. Historically, in the USA, our EPA has cherry-picked studies from the pesticide industry and ignored independent studies and epigenetic studies. The EPA also does not require long-term animal studies with blood analysis on any final formulations for approval of any agrochemicals. That means the pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides that are being applied to our animal feed and food crops have never been determined safe for consumption. In fact, many countries around the world have found them to cause or contribute to cancer, infertility, and many serious health issues, and have banned them.
President Trump was largely elected for his promises to Make America Healthy Again.
“Our goal is to get toxins out of our environment, poisons out of our food supply, and keep our children healthy and strong. As an example, not long ago, and you can’t even believe these numbers, one in 10,000 children had autism. One in 10,000. And now it’s one in 36. There’s something wrong. One in 36. Think of that.” - President Donald J. Trump
HHS Secretary Kennedy just updated that statistic - it is 1 in 31 children, 1 in 20 boys in America, and 1 in 12.5 boys in California. In addition, the CDC shows that 1 out of 2 men and 1 out of 3 women are expected to get cancer in America today. 1 in 7 couples struggle with conceiving. The agrochemicals allowed in our food contribute to all of these serious, life-threatening health issues.
We have a national emergency, a homeland security issue, and it starts with the corruption in our regulatory agencies. They are ignoring science that is recognized in dozens of countries around the world, which ban 85 agrochemicals that we allow in our food.
Please join us in sending a letter to our government, sworn to protect us, requesting that we put science and safety first.
Thank you.
Not only are our farmers not being told that the pesticides they are using are banned in Europe and other countries, but they are also NOT being told that the final formulations for any of the products they use have never actually been proven safe.
The top five most recognized and harmful pesticides* are: glyphosate, 2,4-D, paraquat, dicamba, and atrazine. Some of these agrochemicals are not allowed for use in the countries where they are produced and in many countries around the world.
Paraquat, for example, is a highly hazardous pesticide linked to Parkinson’s disease, thyroid disease, cancer, and birth defects. More than 70 countries worldwide have banned paraquat, including China, the E.U., and Brazil, and yet the U.S. lags behind.
Glyphosate, another example, is linked to cancer, reproductive impacts, sperm damage, increased prenatal births, birth defects, androgenizing baby girls, embryonic cell damage in utero, liver, kidney, and thyroid damage, neurological disorders, and nervous system damage. According to Michael McNeil of Ag Advisory, when crops are exposed to only 1/40th of the average usage of glyphosate, meaning drift level exposure, there is a reduction of nutrient uptake in the shoot of the crop (the part we eat) by 80-95%. The nutrients are magnesium, zinc, and iron, nutrients essential for the plant’s and human’s immune system. The normally harmless bacteria in the soil kill the plant, not unlike how normally harmless bacteria, viruses, mold, and parasites are harming and killing Americans. This is a major reason why Americans are sick - our farmers are unintentionally growing nutrient-deficient junk food that does not support our immune systems. Due to this devastating effect on the nutrient density of a crop, there is no safe use of glyphosate.
In addition, Ag Advisory reports that low levels of glyphosate increase dangerous mycotoxins and pathogenic bacteria, threatening crop quality, livestock, and consumer safety. The use of glyphosate for pre-harvest use on agricultural crops has been banned in Europe. The Pre-harvest interval for weed control use on agricultural crops has been set at 60 days, and desiccation has been banned outright. 39 countries ban or restrict glyphosate.
2,4- D, Dicamba, and Atrazine have been shown to cause a variety of serious harms, including sex hormone and reproductive organ changes, Parkinson’s disease, inflammation, multi-generation birth defects, and severe crop damage. 4, 6, and 15 countries ban glyphosate, respectively.
There are 85 total agrochemicals that have been banned in other countries that are used in our food and feed crops. Hundreds of independent scientific studies show that these agrochemicals can be carcinogenic, endocrine-disrupting, and harmful. Our exposure to them presents a risk that must be eliminated.
We, concerned consumer groups, scientists, pediatricians, environmentalists, and farmers, who have seen the destruction of our earth's soil, wildlife, marine life, children’s, pets’, and human health caused by large and small amounts of toxic and harmful pesticides, call upon the Trump Administration’s EPA to ban all of the 85 pesticides that have already been banned in Europe, Brazil and China, as well as glyphosate, dicamba, and 2,4-D, to end our exposure to them once and for all.
President Trump was largely elected for his promises to wisely Make America Healthy Again.
“Our goal is to get toxins out of our environment, poisons out of our food supply, and keep our children healthy and strong. As an example, not long ago, and you can’t even believe these numbers, one in 10,000 children have autism. One in 10,000. And now it’s one in 36. There’s something wrong. One in 36. European, Chinese, and Brazilian citizens and children are not more important than our citizens, and science is not different in one country over the other. Science is science, health is health, no matter what our country of origin. It is imperative that we take bold action to remove toxic pesticides from our food supply. This is a national emergency and we must respond for the sake of our homeland security.
Our children are the future of our country. Prioritizing their health makes sense. Many people advocating for better health outcomes have focused on school lunches, which is imperative. An important fact to consider, however, is that school lunch nutrition directors must be able to source cleaner food. If federal regulations continue to allow high levels of pesticides, synthetic chemicals, and/or heavy metals in the nationwide food supply, school nutrition directors will not have the ability to source food that meets healthy school lunch criteria. Therefore, it is essential that the entire food supply is transformed to Make America Healthy Again.
The first step is to ban the pesticides that are contaminating our food and water and making us sick. Getting rid of pesticides that are banned in other countries is a necessary first step in this process to make sure that our citizens have the same baseline protections that other people around the world enjoy.
It should be noted that replacing any banned pesticides with other, equally or even less harmful pesticides is unacceptable. Shifting funding from GMO mono-crop farming to organic and regenerative practices is essential. Using less pesticides is not healthy. A healthy America requires removing the risk of any harm associated with the use of all and any amount of synthetic, harmful pesticides. This high standard requires that all agrochemical approvals must fully account for all scientific research and be final formulation tested for all harmful outcomes in any consideration of use around humans or for consumption.
Join us today to ban the 85 pesticides that have already been banned in Europe, China, Brazil, and other countries!
